TRANSPIRE is carried out by imec’s Thin Film Photovoltaics group – a technical team with deep complementary expertise across perovskite materials, devices, modules, processing and reliability.
Dr. Anurag Krishna
R&D Project Leader
Trained at NTU Singapore (PhD) and EPFL Switzerland (MSCA fellow), where he developed highly stable perovskite cells exceeding 25% efficiency. At imec since 2022, he manages national, EU and industrial projects and has authored 40+ papers, including in Nature Reviews, Nature Communications, Energy & Environmental Science and Joule.
In TRANSPIRE: oversees overall project management, leads absorber and interface engineering for high-performance, stable modules, steers techno-economic analysis and pilot-line specifications, and supports investor outreach and dissemination.
PhD in Experimental Physics (University of Antwerp), blending industrial and academic experience. As R&D Manager at Abengoa Solar NT she expanded the PV lab, achieved ISO 9001 certification, and led CIGS/perovskite transfer to manufacturing. Since joining imec in 2018 she has focused on module upscaling and reliability.
In TRANSPIRE: drives module optimisation, IEC/ISOS testing, prototype builds and end-user trials.
Two decades of leadership in thin-film photovoltaics. Since his PhD on organic PV (KU Leuven, 2006), he has headed imec’s TFPV R&D, launched its perovskite and tandem activities (from 2014), and led multi-partner programmes linking academia, institutes, SMEs and industry — including Solliance, with partnerships such as Panasonic, Dyesol, Heraeus and ThyssenKrupp/Kingspan.
In TRANSPIRE: oversees market engagement, industrial collaborations, and investment-plan development.
PhD in Chemistry (KU Leuven, 2014). She moved from organic PV to perovskite cells and modules at imec, specialising in scalable coating (blade and slot-die), reproducibility and stability.
In TRANSPIRE: leads layer-stack refinement and large-area module fabrication and characterisation.
PhD from Utrecht University; worked at TU/e on atomic-layer-deposited thin films for perovskite and silicon-heterojunction (SHJ) cells. At imec since 2018, he leads work on scalable, stable perovskite modules, coordinates Horizon projects, and supervises PhD and postdoc teams (45+ publications; two patents as first inventor).
In TRANSPIRE: focuses on performance and stability strategies, NiOx/ETL/electrode optimisation, and customer-facing prototype validation.
